This is a repository for various longer things that I've written that didn't have a home- until now. When it comes to shorter pieces, I'm not sure if it's worth the effort, but these were too long to let decay in a corner. Part expression, part exorcism, part writing exercise; not always polished, occasionally rambling; but eh, here they are.
Isn't that the point of the information superhighway, to flood the world with more information than anyone could ever find useful? Here's my contribution.

Essays

Subtext without Text Leaves.... A look at the insular views of 'serious' artists and writers, and the lack of wide appeal of their works compared to what the proles are watching. It stands a strong chance of coming back to bite me in the ass one day.

Climate Change - Wanna Bet? is a brief look at the climate change industry. I don't doubt it's happening, but that doesn't mean I'm prepared to abandon my existing standard of what constitutes scientific 'proof'. (My standard was formed by my physics background. I still subscribe to the old saying "The only true science is physics, everything else is just stamp collecting". That's not to say I don't think useful discoveries come from other fields- I certainly trust medicine, and I'm happy with 'strong links' and 'persuasive evidence' in most fields- I'm just extremely sceptical whenever I hear something has been 'proved')(As far as technology goes, the proof is in the pudding- if it works, it works).

A Long Time Ago in a Galaxy Far Far to the Left is an expose on the hypocrisy of the Jedi...with no thinly veiled (or even fully burqad) swipes at modern politics, no sir-ee, none whatsoever.

Differentiating Cloned Arguments is an article I wrote in late 2006. At the time the Australian parliament was debating whether to relax restrictions on stem cell research. This is where my thoughts on the matter led, surprising even myself.

Time Travel and Resolving Paradoxes in Fiction was born of those moments while watching TV or reading a book when I've just gone "That doesn't make sense". It has some logical rules and speculative physics associated with time travel. . . as logical and speculative as you can be with something you don't actually believe is possible.

O Big Brother, Where Art Thou? A brief look at Nineteen Eighty-Four and what has become reality.

The Dump We Have To Have. Sometimes getting something down doesn't go smoothly. The following is an example where it just never felt right, but I thought I'd include both attempts anyway. It's a look at nuclear waste and environmentalism, attempted in both serious and sarcastic tones.

Miscellaneous

This Time For Sure. I wrote this in...was it Year 11 or 12? I rediscovered it while going through old notes in a desk drawer. I'm pretty sure mine was the longest in class, and the poem had the most lines too.[file drum-sting.mp3 not found] I'm not a poet at heart, and it's no Rime of the Ancient Mariner, but hey, it's something different to fill the site, even if I do cringe at some lines now.

More to come if I can feel bothered putting up the smaller pieces or something new comes along.Extra Special Bonus Sneak Preview of my Novel
